What Comes from Boredom
On this dull rainy day, at this dull gloomy hour, Rin had become bored. It was the kind of boredom that comes from having absolutely nothing to do with anything. She couldn’t watch tv or go online because the down pour was so heavy that it blocked the signal on her dish. There are games to play but they all need more people to make it work right. Her parents were out of town, and she could not talk to her friends because she no bars. All she can do is lie on the couch and look at the ceiling above her. “Ugh,” she said with frustration, “what am I going to do now. It’s a Saturday and I’m stuck here. Mom and dad took the car so I can’t drive anywhere. “ She started to wander the house, climbing the stairs looking in every room. Gazing in with the same look of disappointment in her eyes. Nothing of interest to that of a teenage mind. No sense of direction to move to. Then something caught her eye. It was the old books that her dad read all the time. She would always look at him as she
Marcus was frantic, he lost something very precious to him and began to search all around the family room. He remembered having it in his pocket and when he reached in it was gone. He began by taking off cushions from the couch and feeling for it on the sides of the recliner, but it was not there. He grabbed a flashlight and used it to search under the all the narrow space of furniture in there. It was nowhere to be found. He looked on top of the tables, in shelves and cabinets, around a few plants that were in the room. He even tried to feel for it with his feet on the carpet floor. He started to move thing everywhere more than twice just to search for this object. He did everything but couldn’t find it anywhere. Marcus felt so depressed that sat on the floor and covered his face with his hands. Breathing deeply trying not to cry and to figuring out where it could be. He then looked up and saw something was on a dining room chair just lying there. He stood up and walked
Ugh, not this again. I get that I am a TV and you watch me, but you can stop flipping channels. Sure, there is this one show now that you like to watch is keeping you entertained but when this is over the real pain begins. You take the remote and start clicking. Clicking and clicking and clicking and clicking. I mean come on. I have a channel menu that you can scroll up and down with. Not to mention a ton of recorded videos on your DVR that you haven’t gotten to that keeps on filling up from nowhere. Just pick one of those shows instead and start binging to delete, and not a stupid repeat. Seriously! Is it that hard to….? Oh no! No! No! No! No! NO! Put that down NOW! If you don’t then I’ll!! I’ll?! Oh, right. I’m stuck to this stupid wall, and I don’t have arms. Ah, crud. Alright here we go. God. Any god. Help me get through this. Now before we start this like to (CLICK) say that (CLICK) I (CLICK) am not thrilled with this (CLICK) one bit. (CLICK) If you
Will was waiting at the side of the street with a package when a car drove up and called out to him. It was about time he thought. He was irritated that his car broke down and had to be towed to the shop. Will walked up to it and waved to the drive before getting in. The driver introduced herself as Francine with a courtesy smile. She was a normal looking girl that appeared to be barely in her mid-20s. Will was impressed by the car, an orange 2015 BMW X1 that seats 5 with Bluetooth, navigation, and a backup camera in the trunk. Will told Francine how much he liked her car. She thanked him and admitted that there were a few chips to it but in all very great condition. She then asked for the address for where Will wanted to go. Will told her without and want to take the fastest route. As they were driving Will was holding on to the package with great nerves. He was thinking that they needed to go faster, and every second gone by might mean he was going to be late. Francine
“I’m sorry but we are no longer looking for applications.” Said the Employer. “Huh, why?!” ask the applicant. “Well, it’s just...” “Just what?” “I’m sorry, but you realize this is a fruit distribution warehouse, right?” “Uh yeah that’s why I applied here for.” The applicant replied with an annoyed look on them. “And it looks like you match the requirements for the clerk job.” The Employer said nervously “Yes, to be able to move crates over 50lbs at a fast efficient pace, must be a team worker, and willingness to adapt to quick change situations.” “That's right but I’m not sure this place is a good fit for someone like you and we can’t take the risk in that causing our company problems.” “Hold it, Hold it! Not a good fit for me. What do you think is a good fit for someone like me? HUH!! HUH!!” “Maybe a zoo or a nature preserve?” “Oh, here we go, listen buster I didn’t swing all the way down here to just be insulted on how I look, or move, or speak. I came here to get a
It was the first night of moving into the apartment, Stanley was restless since he left his parent’s to be independent. Different walls, different floors, and a different view outside the windows of a new street. No sounds of the TV on in the distance. No cats walking across the house, meowing for food after everyone is in bed. His sense of security was now completely gone. It was just quiet. Too quiet. The kind of silence that made him paranoid with odd excuses not to sleep. Did he lock the door? Was his new fridge close? Were all the lights and appliances turned off? Then it started, the wind whistling as it hit the building. It’s sound haunting him to the depths of his soul. While listening to this spectral howl, all that Stanley could do was cover himself under his own bed sheets. He became a child again. That frighten little child which was afraid of everything in the dark. Mysterious noises, unknown shadows dancing everywhere, and the feeling of whether he was safe
Eric was nauseous while entering the restroom. All he wanted to do is wash his hands and leave, but his nose was burning. It felt like it hadn't been clean in years. Wondering what the janitors are being paid for at this school to leave such neglect. There may also been a kid, eating something that left this eye-opening stench without flushing at all. Rushing to reach the sink, trying to bear with what can only be describe as a rotting dead skunk in compost. His eye’s watering, nose hair falling out with each breath, face looking like out of a horror movie. Almost succumbing, just as he got to the faucet. The hand soap was the only temporary salvation in a toxic room. The calming lavender assisted Eric find peace, focusing on the water pouring down. He squirts it in his hands, withing the relief that released from the soap. Turning off the water he heads for the paper towels. He could feel it coming back for the serenity he obtained. The smog. That noxious, insufferable
OH!! The king is going to have my head for this. Why did this happen within the castle? It was supposed to be one little fire ball spell that was easy to control. Then suddenly one of the knights startled me and “Whoosh,” it left my hand and landed on the one of his favorite portraits. It was the one where it took every one of his favors to get it, and now it is chard to ash. I got to hide it or else I’m dragon chow. First, I’ll call my broom and sweep this out the window, then just lie about it being away in storage. That’s perfect, no one would suspect anything. My what a smart witch I am. Huh! What’s that sound? Oh no! The king is here and getting closer! Don’t panic! Don’t panic! Just take a deep breath and smile or cast an illusion spell to make me invisible and run like my life depends on it. No, own up to it and suffer the consequences and hope for the best. He might show leniency for being responsible for my actions. There’s the king and who is that with him? Its

Hello. So I am taking an Intro to Fiction Writing Class at Ohio State and the book for this class is pretty good for helping beginners like me. Its called " Writing Fiction, Tenth Edition: A Guide to Narrative Craft (Chicago Guides to Writing, Editing, and Publishing) by Janet Burroway". I am finished on Ch 1 and it is interesting. The author is interactive as well. If anyone wants to improve their writing ability or get back to basics, then read this book.
